A rundown of the 8 best moments from last night's Late Late Toy Show
Andres Poveda Andres Poveda
THERE’S NO DENYING that last night RTÉ gave us one of the best Late Late Toy Shows that we’ve seen in a few years.
From start to finish, there were plenty of laughs and even a couple of moments that brought viewers to tears. Here are the main highlights for anybody looking to catch up without committing to watching the entire thing.
1. When Ryan met little Tadhg and decided to streel out of him.
From an over-zealous push around in the Batmobile…
To full on dragging a child across the floor of an RTÉ studio.
Tadhg got some sweet revenge afterwards, asking the audience should he have a little “party fun”, before proceeding to shoot Ryan Tubridy.
2. The token farmer child of the year was Kyle from Westmeath

After Tadhg, Ryan took his second beating from Kyle, while pretending to be a cow. Let’s just hope Kyle’s a little bit more gentle with real life cows.
3. Ryan spoke to a little girl who has been affected by the housing crisis.
“Do you have a dog, Mia?” Ryan asked the little girl, before she explained that she didn’t because there isn’t enough space in her house. Mia told Ryan that she lives with her aunty, her cousin, her nanny and grandad, her brother and her mam. She shares a room with her cousin and her brother in her extremely busy and crowded house.
So The Late Late Show presented Mia with an excellent surprise to help her and her mam have a break. Be careful watching this if you’re hungover, because you absolutely will cry.
4. Then there was Bobby, a young car enthusiast who got to see a DeLorean.
What’s remarkable about Bobby is his reaction. He genuinely didn’t give two shites about that DeLorean.
5. Another standout moment was Dublin girls Brooke and Amber pampering Ryan Tubridy.
This horrifying mask was the subject of countless jokes on Twitter.
6. Immediately after we got to meet an incredibly pleasant little girl called Nikki.
She was so polite! So soft-spoken! So cute. Just when the public began to trust her, she turned around and fat shamed her doll.
7. Rather than a celebrity appearance, this year’s Late Late Toy Show saw two kids reunited with their father who is in the Irish Defence Forces.
This bit had everyone crying. Except for Kayla. Moments before hand she had told Ryan her father’s name is Bertie and she was a bit slower to react than her siblings were when Graham emerged from his hiding place.
Maybe they brought the wrong box in for Kayla. Maybe she was hoping Ed Sheeran was behind that wrapping paper. Maybe she was expecting a former Taoiseach. Who knows?
8. When the book segment rolled around, Ryan spoke to two very ambitious young girls.
One wanted to be a book editor and the other wanted to be a zoologist. Here’s their face when they were told they’d be going to work with a book publisher for a day in London and getting to experience what it’s like to work as a Zookeeper.
Priceless.
So that’s it.
There we have it, The Late Late Toy Show condensed into the eight very best moments. See you next year.
