IN RECENT DAYS, Adam Levine went off on one on Twitter, criticised MTV to the high heavens and was then promptly informed that everything he had written was utterly misinformed.
The mortification is real, people.
So, it all kicked off when the Maroon 5 frontman used his platform to lambaste MTV for failing to recognise Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America’ at the Video Music Awards.
This year, Childish Gambino released one of the most impactful, thought provoking and intelligent videos ever made. I’m sure he doesn’t care that he wasn’t nominated for a VMA because he’s cool as f*ck and everything. But I care. Because I’m NOT that cool. And I still want MTV to mean something again. But it won’t. Ever. K bye.
Except here’s the thing; MTV did recognise him.
In fact, the video has been nominated for seven awards.
And when Adam was informed of this, he rushed straight back to Twitter to admit he had, indeed, made a holy show of himself.
In a tweet which was acknowledged by the Video Music Awards, Adam apologised.
Well, kind of.
Shit. I don’t usually put my foot in my mouth. But this time, I did. ‘This is America’ actually WAS nominated for 7 VMAs. How I didn’t get the right info is beyond me. I stand corrected. I’m sorry MTV. Still hate you though. but mostly, I’m sorry.

The folk behind the Video Music Awards responded to the singer’s half-assed apology by encouraging him to vote for Childish Gambino since he, you know, feels so strongly about it.
Hey Adam, don’t hate us we ❤️ you! And if you’re as big a fan of @donaldglover as we are, you should go vote for him at https://t.co/Wc2weigWx5! 🙊💜😘 pic.twitter.com/Qlp93erJDI

Adam Levine also took to Instagram yesterday to share his thoughts on his mistake.
After getting a dig in at MTV for always ‘blowing off’ Maroon 5, he went on to explain how he came to the conclusion that Childish Gambino had been snubbed.
Look, I f*cked up. There’s no way around it. But he was nominated, like, seven times over and I look like a moron.
Well, that was awkward.
