IT’S A BUSY TIME of the year for airports, with one million passengers expected to pass through Dublin Airport today on their way home for Christmas.

The occasion is a joyous one, but sadly, many families in Ireland will be feeling the absence of a loved one living abroad this weekend.

As an act of festive kindness, Aer Lingus decided to surprise three such families by bringing their loved ones home for the holiday:

  • Tracey, a Glasnevin native now living in San Francisco with her husband and two sons;
  • James from Dundalk, who hasn’t been home for Christmas since he moved to New York;
  • And Lusk man Brendan, whose ‘boisterous’ presence has been missed by his family since he too went off to New York.

This lovely clip tells each of their stories, and records the exact moment their families see them at the doorstep. Warning: You will weep.
