SIX-YEAR-OLD Owen was travelling with his parents from Tampa, Florida to Texas, but left something very important behind at the airport:
It was his favourite stuffed tiger, Hobbes. His parents asked the airport staff to put out a call for help and after a quick search of the building, Hobbes was found – but it was too late to send him on with his owner.
Staff decided to take Hobbes on his own adventure until Owen came back, and document it on Facebook:
Here he is checking out the Air Traffic Control Tower
And picking up some ice cream at the food hall
Hanging out with the firefighters
Inspecting the airplanes
And keeping an eye on things at the control centre
Airport manager Tony D’Aiuto had the photos turned into a book, which was presented to Owen when he came back to pick up Hobbes.
Owen’s mother, Amanda Lake, said she cried when she saw it:
It was such a nice surprise. We already told him over and over that Hobbes was on an adventure, so it was nice to get back and show him that [it was true].
Ahh. People ARE nice, aren’t they?
