The Irish absolutely cleaned up at tonight's British Comedy Awards
THE IRISH CLEANED up at tonight’s British Comedy Awards with Aisling Bea, Moone Boy and Graham Norton all receiving prizes.
Aisling Bea was named Best Female TV Comic at the ceremony, beating Bridget Christie, Nina Conti and Issy Suttie to take the top prize.
The stand-up comedian and actress, who hails from Kildare, is a regular on the likes of 8 Out Of Ten Cats, QI and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
She can currently be seen on the Sky 1 sitcom Trollied.
This isn’t the first major accolade Bea has received.
In 2012, she won the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny? award and was nominated for the Foster’s Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013.
Elsewhere, Moone Boy was named Best Sitcom and Graham Norton won Best Comedy Entertainment Programme and Best Comedy Entertainment Personality.
Brendan O’Carroll was the recipient of Writers’ Guild Of Great Britain Award for his work on the enormously successful Mrs. Brown’s Boys.

Other winners tonight included Harry Enfield, Lee Mack, Nick Helm, Toast of London and Would I Lie To You?
Previous Irish winners at the British Comedy Awards include Graham Linehan, Sharon Horgan, Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran.
The ceremony airs tomorrow night on Channel 4 at 9pm.
