JADE THIRWALL HAS missed out on the role of Jasmine in Guy Ritchie’s live-action remake of Aladdin. :(
The Little Mix singer was beaten to the punch by Naomi Scott, after over 2,000 auditions.
Some people think that the decision to not actually cast an actual Middle Eastern actress in the role was a mistake, particularly after the original casting call asked specifically for Middle Eastern actors. (Scott is half British and half Gurjarati Indian).
She joins Will Smith, who’ll be playing The Genie, and Mena Massoud – a newbie undertaking the role of Aladdin.
To say that Mixers were not pleased is an understatement
She’s half Egyptian and half Yemeni, and of course, she can to sing and dance. Did th4e casting director miss a trick or wha?!
So SALTY.
No official statement from the gal herself yet, but it’s clearly a stressful time for her, given her recent Candy Crush woes.
If it’s any consolation Jade, Jasmine’s definitely not the best Disney princess anyway (shoutout to Ariel).
