Alanis Morissette to star in new film about Irish architect

She’s signed on to work with Irish director Mary McGuckian.

ALANIS MORISSETTE HAS signed on to star in a new film from Irish director Mary McGuckian about the life of Irish architect Eileen Gray.

The singer will play Gray’s lover in The Price of Desire, according to Variety.

The film is being part-funded by the Irish Film Board and is being produced in association with Windmill Lane Pictures here in Ireland, and Saga Film in Belgium.

Shannon Sossamon (she was in A Knight’s Tale and 40 Days and Nights) will play Gray in the movie, while Swiss actor Vincent Perez will also star.

The project has been announced as part of Irish involvement in the Cannes Film Festival, which will see more than 20 Irish movies being screened over the course of the event.

Alanis Morissette has previously appeared in Weeds and Dogma.

Some of The Price of Desire will be filmed at Eileen Gray’s French villa E1027, which it’s hoped will be restored as the result of a Kickstarter campaign. So far just $4,525 of the $40,000 goal amount has been raised, with 20 days left to go.
