This YouTube phenomenon has arrived in Dublin and Irish teens are losing it
Twitter Twitter
YOU MAY NOT have heard of Alfie Deyes, but there’s a good chance somebody you know is one of the millions of people that have watched his insanely popular YouTube channel.
Alfie started the PointlessBlog back in 2009 – and has since gone on to become a YouTube sensation – with two books released off the back of it and over 4 million subscribers to his channel.
The 21 year old arrived in Dublin today to much fanfare – and is set to do a book signing at an undisclosed Eason’s location in Dublin tomorrow.
Here he is in Dublin today with one of his many fans
Alfie’s two books – The Pointless Book and The Pointless Book 2 – are bestsellers and his appearance tomorrow has a good bit of security around it. There are 500 fans who got tickets – out of 4000 that applied – and Easons has some strict enough rules in place given his popularity:
Alfie arrived in to Ireland this morning, and his fans were waiting
He’s been doing radio appearances around the capital and fans from across the country have been waiting to catch a glimpse
How did he get so wildly popular?
His YouTube channel features Alfie getting up to all sorts of antics – like trying American candy, The Horrible Jenga Challenge, and The Food Pong Challenge - with people tuning in to see what he gets up to in his everyday life as well as that of his Youtube pals.
He has also come to prominence at the same time as his girlfriend Zoe Suggs – who under the YouTube name Zoella has over 8.5 million subscribers and has her own beauty product line as well as her own book.
The pair regularly do videos together and bought a £1 million house together earlier this year
