Allison Janney stuck up for Kate Middleton when Twitter went for her BAFTA dress yesterday
IF HER RECENT appearance on Graham Norton taught us anything, it’s that Allison Janney is an absolute queen among women.
We mean, she shifted Graham on set, for crying out loud.
But if you needed further confirmation that the I, Tonya star is in a league of her own, look no further than her response to barbed remarks recently made about the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Prince William’s wife caused online controversy over the weekend when she opted to wear a green gown to the BAFTAs – a decision which many felt flew in the face of movements such as #TimesUp and #MeToo.
With the vast majority of BAFTA attendees wearing black in solidarity with the social movements, it wasn’t long before the press and public honed in on Kate’s ensemble.
Whoops!

However, given her royal status, Kate is forbidden from making political statements, but that wasn’t enough to appease Twitter users.
And Allison wasn’t having the backlash.
When discussion eventually reached the actress, she was quick to compliment the pregnant royal.
Allison reminded the public that a woman’s choice of clothing was hers alone, and insisted that she doesn’t consider it an appropriate conversation point.
“I would never judge anyone’s choice of clothing,” she said, in defense of the royal.
And that’s how you do it.
