Amanda Holden had to explain what a 'bag-for-life' was to Simon Cowell because he's too rich for supermarkets

Just typical millionaire stuff.

IT’S HARD TO believe that it’s been 16 years since the plastic bag levy was introduced in Ireland. Yet, there’s still a fairly good chance that the odd Dunnes Stores bag is still hanging around under your stairs since 2002.

It was only in 2016 that the UK introduced their own plastic bag tax. Anyone who was on holidays in the UK between 2002 and 2016, probably went a bit mad on the plastic bags, since they were free. No harm bringing a few home.

Although plastic bags were free in the UK up until 2016, the bag-for-life was introduced years ago. They’re just handier, since you rarely have to worry about them tearing (if you can remember to bring them, that is).

On the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent, one contestant wrote a song dedicated to his favourite bag-for-life.

Simon Cowell was pretty confused, and turned to Amanda Holden for an explanation as to what a ‘bag-for-life’ actually was.

While the performer, Micky, began to sing “You are my bag for life”, Simon Cowell looked at Amanda and said “You are my bag for what?” Speaking over Micky’s performance, she had to tell Simon:

You know when you go to the supermarket, you can either buy a cheap carrier bag, or a bag for life which is better quality and a bit more expensive.

Simon smiled with entertainment, after learning about a new type of plastic bag that he had not previously encountered.

Once the song was finished, David Walliams announced:

What was really funny was seeing Amanda have to explain to Simon what a bag-for-life is. Clearly he’s not been to a supermarket since 1981.
