IN 2019, A hologram of Amy Winehouse will tour the globe, with proceeds from performances going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
The tour, which is the work of a production company called BASE Hologram, will see a hologram of the late singer projected onto a screen while digitally remastered versions of her tracks will be ‘performed’ alongside a live band.
Amy’s father, Mitch, has given the production his full support.
To see her perform again is something special that really can’t be put into words. Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way.
Amy passed away at the age of 27 in 2011, and the Amy Winehouse Foundation was established in the singer’s honour to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people.
According to The Guardian, BASE Hologram, who have created similar tours for late performers, Roy Orbison and Maria Callas, have called the endeavour ‘theatrical stagecraft’.
