It seemed for a while that the trait of internet-inspired offline amusements had quietened down – but just when the pursuit of inane amusements needed a shot in the arm, along comes Angelina Jolie to revive the dying art.

If you happened to catch the Oscars live or seen any of the red carpet pictures, you’ll no doubt have spotted Jolie in her Atelier Versace gown… showing some leg. Or, rather, a lot of leg.

Presenting the awards for the best adapted and original screenplays at Sunday’s awards, Jolie even prompted the writers of The Descendants – picking up their award in the former category – to replicate her pose, spawning a wave of online copycats.

Like any decent meme, Angelina Jolie-ing (yes, that’s its inelegant name) has a dedicated Tumblr – but goes one further with its already highly-followed Angelina Jolie’s Leg Twitter account (sample message: “Check me out! Leg!!”).
