ANNIVERSARIES CAN BE a divisive thing; some people happily anticipate and celebrate them, others feel duty-bound to honour them and then there are the folk who pay next to no attention to them.
This is obviously all well and good, as long as you and your significant other are on the same page, that is.
Recently, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she and her husband of 21 years, Will Smith, don’t tend to recognise or celebrate their anniversaries.
Speaking on Red Table Talk, she said: “It’s more of a life partnership, so it’s not steeped in that day.”
We don’t really celebrate that day anymore in the sense because the context of our union is totally different.
Personally, I’ve a good memory for dates and a keen appreciation of milestones, so recognising anniversaries is second-nature to me.
While I only tend to celebrate one anniversary in my relationship, I do, however, always note particular dates as they roll in each year.
But what about you? How important are anniversaries in your relationship, or what do you think of them in general?
