Aoibhín Garrihy defended herself for climbing a mountain in Kerry while seven months pregnant
AOIBHIN GARRIHY HAS hit back at people who said that she shouldn’t climb a mountain while pregnant.
The actress went hiking with her husband John Burke up Carrauntoohil in Kerry over the weekend. John is an experienced climber, and even reached the summit of Mount Everest last May.
Aoibhin is currently seven months pregnant, so stirred up some controversy when she shared this photo on Instagram

Many people were delighted to see her up and active in the later stage of her pregnancy.
However, some couldn’t understand the concept of light exercise while pregnant, with Aoibhin herself replying to a commenter who called her hike ‘irresponsible’ and ‘silly’

Aoibhin was quick to defend the day trip, explaining that she took her time during the clumb.
Aoibhin’s family even chimed in to support her, with sister Doireann explaining that Aoibhin told her that the climb took her three times longer than usual.
Her mum Clare also gave a pretty shocking example of her husband Eugene’s godmother’s actions during her pregnancy back in 1959.
Pregnant not powerless, indeed.
