The Pope ripped up a photo of Miley Cyrus at the Arcade Fire gig last night*

*A bobble-head of the Pope. Did we mention Sinead O’Connor was playing all the while?

ARCADE FIRE RETURNED to rock Dublin city last night after an impressive Glastonbury set on Friday, playing to around 25,000 fans at Marlay Park.

There’ve been many complaints that the band take themselves too seriously, but last night proved they do have a sense of humour after all.

During the break before the encore, a troupe of band members came on stage wearing their now-infamous bobble-heads – with an additional bobble-head of Pope Francis, which has been appearing during their European tour.

What's that? Sinead o Connor in a box with the pope holding a picture of Miley Cyrus on stage at an arcade fire concert. That's what it is Instagram / samdimeme Instagram / samdimeme / samdimeme

As Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U played over the speakers, the bobble-head Pope proceeded to rip a photograph of Miley Cyrus in half, in reference to O’Connor’s open letter-war with the popstrel last year.

Yep.

Needless to say, the stunt was very well-received:
