It’s 75 years since the Golden Gate Bridge opened in San Francisco.

ON THIS DAY IN 1937, celebrations were underway to mark the opening of the newly-constructed Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Seventy-five years later, the now-iconic bridge is celebrating the anniversary of its construction. It was the world’s longest suspension bridge at the time of its opening, which was celebrated by pedestrians on the bridge and military planes in the air:
