IF YOU CAST your mind back to November of last year you’ll likely a remember a moment when Little Mix inadvertently set in motion a war of words between Piers Morgan, Ariana Grande and – wait for it – her mother, Joan.

So, it all kicked off when Piers offered his opinion on Strip – a track Little Mix released in response to the barrage of body-shaming they have endured over the course of their careers.

Focussing on the video in which the foursome appeared naked; their bodies daubed with the slurs thrown at them since coming to public prominence in 2011, Piers said: “They’re stripping off to sell albums, that’s what it’s about. The rest of it is baloney.”

Dubbing it ‘a cynical assault on the records market’, Piers then accused the band of ripping the idea from The Dixie Chicks in a post on Twitter.

And that’s when Ariana’s mam, Joan, stepped in.

Responding to the British broadcaster on Twitter, she wrote: “Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan?”

Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it! You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And..well never mind.

Piers then responded to Joan, and accused her daughter, Ariana, of using nudity to sell records, and naturally the woman herself wasn’t about to let her mother fight her battles.

Ariana hopped in, saying: “Ellen is an incredible & kind human being. I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because I choose to.”

Women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice.  & we will keep fighting til people understand. i say this w all due respect but thank u, next.

But if you thought that signalled the end of any exchanges between Ari and Piers, you’d be mistaken.

In fact, they’ve taken their war of words off Twitter, met in person, and seemingly found out that they ‘really like each other.’

In a tweet Piers shared last night, he explained that he and Ariana had bumped into each other, and hashed out their differences over plenty of booze.

So... we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for ‘a chat’ & 2 hours later we were still chatting. We laughed, we argued, she cried, I nearly did, the drinks flowed & we bonded. Ariana seemed equally as content with how the night panned out, by responding to Piers and thanking him for some ‘very productive conversation’.

The tweets has been met with mixed reaction, with some of Ariana’s fans raging that she gave Piers the time of day and others praising her for conducting herself with dignity and seeking to educate Piers on certain issues.

Sure look, surely there’s more to be said for the latter, right?
