COPPERS: THE MUSICAL is coming and Ross O’Carroll Kelly is bringing it to us, like.
Well, sort of.
Paul Howard – the man who created the iconic south Dublin character – is on board to put the finishing touches on the script for a musical about the iconic Dublin nightclub.
‘Anglo: The Musical’ creator Darren Smith came up with the concept and will produce the show, The Irish Sun’s Showbiz Editor Ken Sweeney told Newstalk this afternoon.
It would be on the eve of an all Ireland-final where Dubs and rural supporters would meet in Copper Face Jacks in a kind of West Side Story scenario.
The ‘Culchies versus Dubs’ themed musical is already in development, but Smith wants Howard – who also wrote the script for the smash hit show about Anglo Irish Bank -to bring his expertise to the project.
The as-yet untitled show has yet to secure financial backing though, so it could be a while before the infamous cattle mart dance floor is actually depicted on the stage.
