WHAT DOES IRELAND smell like?
That was the question put to listeners of Ian Dempsey’s Breakfast Show on Today FM this morning.
There was no shortage of replies as the people of Ireland mulled over their favourite local aromas and #irishsmells slowly began to take over Twitter feeds.
Here are just a selection of scents that tickled nostrils around the country:
The full Irish breakfast
The scent of a good old sod of turf
And the competition
The aroma of the Atlantic
There’s a LOT of love for the Guinness brewery in the capital
A subtle hint of Liffey water
The pub, at any time of day
A good waft of eau de Coppers
Some late night take-away
A bit of fake bake
Marvellous medicinal odours
The strong stuff
A grouped selection of notion-laced scents
And of course, a traditional favourite that you’d be hard pushed to ignore
