RTÉ played out their World Cup coverage last night with a Garth Brooks song

A triumph for some. A devastating blow to others.

LAST NIGHT THE national broadcaster really stuck the (cowboy) boot into the nation, just when we thought we couldn’t get any more emotionally fragile.

World Cup fans watching RTÉ’s coverage of Brazil v Germany last night couldn’t believe their ears when they heard the soundtrack to the closing montage.

There it was – Germany scoring goal after goal after goal, devastated Brazilian players and their crying fans…all set to Garth Brooks’ The Dance.
