COLIN FARRELL HAS confirmed he will definitely have a role in the second season of HBO’s critically acclaimed True Detective.
The Irish actor has long been linked to the project, but speaking to the Sunday World yesterday he said he was “so excited” to be on board for season two.
I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.
The first season of the show earned rave reviews for the performances of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the embattled detectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, and was nominated for five Emmys – winning one for Cary Joji Fukunaga’s direction.
It was confirmed early on that neither McConaughey, Harrelson nor Fukunaga would return for the second season.
Farrell revealed to the Sunday World that the rest of the season two cast has not yet been finalised.
Actors Taylor Kitsch and Vince Vaughn have also been linked to the show, while Rosario Dawson, Rachel McAdams and Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss are rumoured to be in talks for the female roles.
Very little is known about what is in store in the second season, except loose details of the plot – Time reports that it will centre on the murder of a corrupt businessman, whose body is discovered the night before a major transportation deal.
Not quite as mysterious and supernatural as the first series, but we’re excited to see where it’s headed.
