HERE’S A HOLIDAY selfie we can get behind.
Last week, blogger Rachel Hollis posted a bikini selfie from her holiday in Cancun and wrote, “I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini.”
The mother-of-three went on to describe how she wears a bikini in spite of the fact that she has stretch marks and a “saggy” belly button.
I wear a bikini because I’m proud of this body and every mark on it. Those marks prove that I was blessed enough to carry my babies and that flabby tummy means I worked hard to lose what weight I could.
She urged fellow mothers to be proud of their stretch marks.
They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them. Flaunt that body with pride.
Hollis’ refreshing honesty has clearly struck a chord with many as the photo has received almost 400,000 likes since it was shared last week.
Many women have applauded Hollis for sharing her empowering message.
Hollis told Today.com that the photo wasn’t taken on purpose.
I had tried to take this posey, pretty shot, and I looked so awkward that it didn’t work. I started laughing, and that’s when he happened to get that picture.
As for the reaction? She’s rather touched by the whole thing.
It touches my heart that people are having this reaction to it.
