IT’S HAPPENED, EVERYBODY.
Someone has finally decided to experiment with sausages and doughnuts.
Behold the “dausage”.
Like the cronut before it, the dausage is a hybrid between sausages and doughnuts.
It’s simple, really — you take a regular pork sausage, inject it with jam et voila.
The Dausage is the brainchild of 37-year-old Liam Bennett.
According to the website, Bennett was inspired to marry sausages and jam after witnessing the success of the cronut and duffin.
…we started speculating about what else would be great if you mixed it with a doughnut, and we quickly settled upon the sausage.
Here are some of the flavours Bennett has come up with so far.
- Pork with Strawberry Jam
- Pork and Beef with Custard
- Pork with Leek and Blackcurrant Jam
- Chicken with Raspberry Jam
- Dausage Rolls
- Venison with Strawberry Custard
- Vegetarian with Primula
And he’s got a lot more where that came from with “black dudding” and “dankenfurters” reportedly on the way.
BLACK DUDDING.
We know what you’re thinking — do people even like them?
Bennett has conducted numerous dausage taste tests and told Buzzfeed that most people “love” them.
Fancy trying one?
You can’t just yet, but Bennett has launched a Kickstarter and is looking to raise £2,500 to help manufacture dausages and bring them to the masses.
With the money we raise from this, we are planning to adapt a sausage making machine to inject the jelly/jam during the sausage formation.
This either sound like highly serious business or an elaborate prank.
Either way, we wholeheartedly approve.
