LAST NIGHT, RTÉ One’s What Are You Eating aired a chilling exposé on chicken.
Specifically chicken fillet rolls.
Among other things, the programme revealed that the chicken found in chicken fillet rolls is, more often than not, not sourced from Ireland and is instead imported from countries like China, Indonesia and Argentina.
Additionally, programme makers informed us that a single chicken fillet roll has in excess of 1,000 calories and provides you with more salt than your daily recommended intake.
They also revealed what’s actually inside your beloved chicken fillet. (Spoiler alert: it’s basically blended chicken carcass with, among other things, water, potato starch, onion oil and… sugar.)
Poor Philip Boucher-Hayes was frankly disturbed by the whole thing.
But the people of Ireland had just one response:
In one fell swoop, RTÉ ruined chicken fillet rolls for everyone.
Suddenly a cheeky chicken fillet roll from the petrol station doesn’t seem so appetising.
“Never eating a chicken fillet roll again” – Literally everyone
Others, however, are still firmly #TeamChickenRoll
No matter what Philip Boucher-Hayes says.
Spare a thought for this young lad who said they changed this life, won’t you?
