WHEN WE THINK of Christmas trees, we think of the Rockefeller Centre. We think of boughs laden with ornaments and twinkly lights. We do not think of this.
New mum Zoe McAllister purchased an £18 tree from Argos for her daughter’s first Christmas – but the thing was considerably lacking in festive cheer.
“Expectations versus reality,” she wrote on Facebook. “I actually laughed at this ‘tree’ for about 15 minutes. Looks like I’m off to buy a new one at the weekend.”
I have a feeling half of my tree has been left in the factory? No amount of sprucing can fix this. Disappointed is an understatement.
At the behest of another commenter, she tried fluffing the branches out a little more, to no avail:
Oh dear. To their credit, Argos offered a refund, but she doesn’t appear to be the only one having issues with Argos trees – the Facebook page is awash with sad-looking offerings.
We can just see it now, Argos bigwigs writing memos to themselves for next year: “So Christmas trees need these things called branches. Who knew!”
