REMEMBER WHEN TYING ‘love locks’ to Ha’Penny Bridge was all the rage?
Well it seem there’s a new hotspot in town for lovers looking to leave their mark.
Enter the Universal Links on Human Rights monument on Amiens Street.
The sculpture was erected in 1995 by Amnesty International and represents all the prisoners of conscience jailed around the world. At the centre of the sphere is an eternal flame.
But now the monument has taken on a whole new purpose with romantically inclined people affixing padlocks to the outside of the monument.

A few years ago, ‘love locks’ on the Ha’Penny Bridge were such an issue that Dublin City Council had to step in and plead with couples not to attach padlocks to the bridge, as it was damaging the bridge’s structure.
Might be time to tell people not to express their undying love for each other on a human rights memorial, eh?
