LAST WEEK, HONORARY Irishman Ed Sheeran released some eagerly awaited music from his forthcoming new album.
To say people were excited is an understatement.
Yesterday Ed Sheeran appeared on RTÉ 2fm to chat with Eoghan McDermott about his new music and dropped some information that will be of special interest to his Irish fans.
His new album features a collaboration with a trad band from Belfast
Sheeran told McDermott that his new album features an Irish jam with Beoga, a trad quintet from Belfast.
I’ve got a trad band called Beoga. They’re actually from Belfast, but they’ve — it’s a fiddle, a pipe, a bodhrán and piano. And we really jam. It’s going to be good. I do think I’ll never be able to play another song in Ireland again because this will be the song.
Beoga confirmed the news a few days ago on their Facebook and wrote that they had fun “playing music and having the craic” with the Grammy winner.
He’s planning on shooting a video for the song in Ireland
Sheeran confirmed to McDermott that he will “definitely” be visiting our shores to shoot a video for the song in Ireland and that he’s going to need some local actors to participate…
I need proper céilí dancers.

In addition to his collaboration with Beoga, Sheeran has written a song about Co. Wexford, which is where his granny hails from.
There’s a song on the bonus album that’s about Co. Wexford so there’s two Irish jams on there both with full trad.
