FOLLOWERS OF KIM Kardashian’s Instagram may be no strangers to #sponcon, but they will speak up when things start to get ridiculous.
Back in 2015, Kim Kardashian was rapped on the knuckles by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a ‘misleading’ sponsored Instagram post about a morning sickness drug.
The reality star was pregnant with her second child, Saint, at the time, and claimed that this particular drug helped her deal with her morning sickness.
The FDA, however, were displeased that she failed to mention any risks associated with the drug to her followers, and ordered her to remove the picture.
It seems that this didn’t convince her to stay away from promoting pharmaceuticals on Instagram, because yesterday she was back at it, shilling the very same drug in a sort of weird #TBT:
Remember this? Just want to remind all of you that if you’re miserable with morning sickness like I was, try changing your lifestyle first. If you still feel sick, don’t wait – ask your doctor about Diclegis… I want to empower all moms-to-be and encourage them to speak up. Don’t suffer in silence!
This time, her caption includes a list of all the known side-effects – and we mean all of them. It’s a long-ass Instagram caption.
Even so, no one seems very impressed with it. First things first, Kim is not pregnant right now – which, as people have pointed out, doesn’t make the ad seem very authentic.
But there’s also the picture accompanying it, showing Kim Kardashian casually looking at the controversial 2015 ad (very badly) Photoshopped on to her phone.
Kim, if you’re going with that hazy, vintage-inspired Instagram aesthetic, you have to commit to it!
The things you do for a quick buck, eh?
