LAST NIGHT’S One Love Manchester gig was a truly touching show of unity – and one that people hoped might bring together two of its most famous sons: Liam and Noel Gallagher.
The brothers have been feuding for years now (here’s a timeline of the whole thing) but there were rumblings that they would put aside their differences for the sake of their city.
However, as it turns out, Noel is on holidays abroad – and Liam, who flew in from Germany to perform, is not impressed with him.
Liam even went as far as to apologise for his brother’s absence, saying he was “very disappointed” – but then he went in on him.
Responding to a fan who asked if that’s the reunion “out the window”, the former Oasis frontman said:
F*ck the reunion mate it ain’t about Oasis it’s about people helping other people and he’s once again shown his true f*cking colours
And to think, just last week he was wishing ‘rkid’ a happy 50th birthday. Ah well.
The younger Gallagher performed three songs (with Coldplay backing him up) at One Love Manchester last night, including the two Oasis classics Rock’n'Roll Star and Live Forever.
People couldn’t help but recall Liam’s past criticisms of Chris Martin – and the two playing together became a sort of symbol of how powerful the gig really was:
Someday the Gallaghers will patch things up, but sadly, yesterday was not that day. Nevertheless, the hope lives on in the hearts of Oasis fans all over the world. We’re rooting for you, lads.
