AN ACROBAT NAMED Pedro Aunion Monroy fell 100ft to his death in front of an audience of 35,000 when his harness snapped during a performance. The 42-year-old received medical attention but unfortunately did not survive.
People immediately took to Twitter to express their shock and disgust that Green Day proceeded to perform metres away from where the man lost his life.
People were in disbelief that organizers apparently failed to mention the death to Green Day.
In a very unfortunate coincidence, they unknowingly opened their set with a tactless comment.
Green Day have responded to criticism that they received after continuing to play their set at Mad Cool Festival in Madrid.
They assured fans that they only found out about Pedro’s death after leaving the stage.
Despite not informing Green Day about the incident, the organisers tweeted that they “regret the terrible accident that an aerial dancer suffered during the second day of the festivals” and insisted that the festival decided to continue with their event for “security reasons.”
The festival said that they will pay tribute to the artist today during the final day of the festival.
