What to watch on TV tonight: Thursday
DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
50 Shades of Grey (RTÉ 2, 9.30pm)
Does anything need to be said about this one? IMDB rated the movie 4.1/10, but that did not stop it grossing more than half a billion dollars at the box office. It follows a student who, for some reason, decides to start seeing a man who came into the hardware shop she works in to buy a pile of suspicious looking supplies including cable ties that he clearly didn’t intend to commit to a building project with.
The Pacemakers (BBC 2, 8pm)
This show follows men over the age of 90 as they pursue their dreams of becoming gold-medal winners in Australian and South Korean Championships. Most of us wouldn’t even manage that at 20. Yet, 97-year-old Charles Eugster is training to break the world long jump record.
Lego Master (Channel 4, 8pm)
Tonight we see the first episode of this series in which 48 pairs will compete to be one of eight teams in the final. They must complete challenges, including creating a huge banquet with Lego bricks, right down to the table and chairs.
Everybody’s talking about… A Joker and Harley Quinn movie that’s in the works.
Pray for anyone who has to work with Jared Leto during the production of that movie after how he behaved the last time he played the Joker.
Or flick over for…
Wasting Away: The Truth About Anorexia (Channel 4, 10pm) Newsreader Mark Austin and his daughter Maddy explore the complex world of eating disorders after Maddy’s three-year-long battle with the condition.
Diana: A Love Affair (TV3, 9pm) 20 years after the death of Princess Diana, this documentary looks at the love affair between the people of Britain and Princess Diana.
Ambulance (BBC 1, 9pm) A documentary shedding light on what it is like to work for the West Midlands Ambulance Service in the UK.
Top of the Lake: China Girl (BBC 2, 9pm) Miranda drops a bombshell that brings her closer to the dead girl and puts her on the wrong side of the law.
What Are You Eating? (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) Philip Boucher-Hayes returns to ruin your favourite foods by revealing how gross they really are. We’ll never forgive you for the chicken fillet roll thing Philip.
