CORK AUTHOR LOUISE O’Neill has been on a roll for the past few years, winning praise for her distinctly feminist young adult novels, Only Ever Yours and Asking For It.
Since then, she has become a force to be reckoned with. There are screen and stage adaptations of both novels in the works and she’s currently working on an eagerly anticipated feminist retelling of A Little Mermaid entitled The Surface Breaks, which is due for release next year.
Last night, the author announced details of her third novel, which will be published in March.
Almost Love is O’Neill’s first adult novel and follows a young woman named Sarah who falls hard and fast for a man twenty years her senior, to the point that she winds up sacrficing work, friendships and relationships to be with him.
It is being billed as a tale of an all-consuming relationship gone wrong and promises to explore how “dangerous, painful and addictive love can be”.
The book comes out on March 8th 2018 and it already comes with a glittering endorsement from the one and only Marian Keyes, who describes it as “a bold and honest depiction of obsessive love”.
Whoops!

Last night, O’Neill tweeted that she’s “worked harder on this book than I ever have before” and wrote that she hoped fans would enjoy it.
The book is now available to preorder on Amazon. We have a feeling it’s going to be massive.
