Fans of Gossip Girl probably can’t imagine anyone but Blake Lively in the role of Serena van der Woodsen, but a future Oscar-winner was also gunning for the part.

Show creator Josh Schwartz revealed to Vulture that none other than Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for the show:

We did not realise this at the time, but Jennifer Lawrence really want to play Serena and auditioned… She was bummed to not get it. We can’t remember if we saw her audition tape or not. It was ten years ago so she would’ve been how old, 15?

Sure it turned out all right for her in the end, didn’t it?
