People on Twitter are sharing the gas white lies that they tell their children

“Daddy can’t hear in the dark. Call mummy if you wake up at night.”

THIS MORNING BBC radio presenter Dan Walker took to Twitter with the statistic that ’9 out of 10 parents say white lies are the secret to a happy life’, and asked people to share the fibs they’ve told their own kids.

The results were pretty funny. You might get a few ideas.

There was this man, who has solved the problem of how to stop your children from harassing you for ice cream every night of the week.

This father found a way to redirect all night time queries to his wife.

Kids are scared into believing that they’re under constant surveillance via fire alarms.

This will work until they have an argument during family time about whether or not a certain celebrity is alive and someone has to Google it.

This one is only fair.

This is actually a better name for them anyway, come to think of it.

This one’s a little bit crueller than the rest though.

You can’t help but wonder how many times your parents ‘forgot’ but they were really just a bit hungry.

Then of course, apart from these there were plenty of the usual “the dog had to go live on a farm” stories.
