Met Eireann's Joanna Donnelly shared a very angry letter she received from a viewer

Did… Did Storm Ophelia write this letter?

IT WAS AN exhausting week for meteorologists as they busily worked away from home for the entirety of Storm Ophelia on Monday.

As everybody in the country remained indoors, all eyes were on the weather forecasters on RTÉ and TV3 as they tirelessly offered updates on a massive storm that resulted in three fatalities.

One of the most notable performances was made by Joanna Donnelly.

Her work did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by the children of Ireland this week. Donnelly received this letter from a young girl in West Cork who was grateful for the days off school, as well as the weather warnings that kept her dad and grandfather safe during the storm.

However, one viewer was a bit less impressed than Olivia O’Driscoll from West Cork.

The anonymous viewer wrote:

Get off the stage, Donnelly. You work for Met Eireann. You’re a weather forcaster (sic). That’s all, no big deal. Nobody is remotely interested in you or your lifestyle. You’re not even a little bit attractive. You’re obviously trying to break into the entertainment/celebrity side of TV like your colleagues. Stick with your cushy job in Glasnevin.

Donnelly took it in good humour, posting it to Twitter, writing “In fairness I have lovely legs. Just can’t see them on TV.”

This letter sounds like it was written by Ophelia herself.  Joanna later wrote that herself and a colleague got a great laugh out of the letter, so the joke’s on the anonymous writer.

What these people don’t realise is that, when you’re so unnecessarily rude to somebody who is simply doing their job, you end up becoming the butt of their jokes with coworkers for weeks.

Regardless of whether people work in Met Eireann or fashion retail, they usually just end up laughing at the strange and unpredictable behaviour of irate customers.
