Ben Affleck joked about sexual assault in Hollywood and his Justice League castmates were morto

NOT NOW BEN.

THE LATEST SUPERHERO blockbuster, Justice League, is out this Friday, and its stars are currently on the promo trail.

Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) all sat down the other day for what became a slightly uncomfortable interview with MTV.

The reporter asked them what might happen if more female superheroes joined the League – Fisher began to talk about the team dynamic, but Ben cut across him to joke:

Are you following the news at all?

What followed was an awkward silence in which most of his castmates looked slightly stricken:

“The news” appears to refer to the allegations of sexual assault in Hollywood, which have been unfurling for the past month.

It’s just a bad joke, yes, but considering Affleck’s history with the scandal, it definitely wasn’t his brightest idea.

Shortly after the first allegations against Harvey Weinstein were published, a video of Affleck groping actress Hilarie Burton in 2003 resurfaced, and Matt Damon admitted they both had some idea of the accusations leveled against the producer.

To add to that, his brother Casey was twice sued for sexual harassment, which became the subject of a lot of the conversation around him during his Oscar campaign last year.

Maybe he should just… be shush from now on. Let us root for you Ben.
