U2 are getting ridiculous amounts of praise for their recent performance on BBC
BBC BBC
ANYBODY WHO TUNED into BBC One last night got to see U2 take their ‘stadium-filling’ performance to the cosier setting of Abbey Road Studios in London.
Abbey Road Studios has hosted a rake of huge artists, from K-Pop band Shinee, to their European predecessors, The Beatles. Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Coldplay, Radiohead and Oasis are among many others to record at the studio.
On last night’s show U2 At The BBC, the Irish band performed with a full orchestra in the famous London studio.
Bono even slipped some Joy Division lyrics into this excellently atmospheric performance of With Or Without You.
There was also a heap of backstage footage from the band’s huge Joshua Tree tour in Brazil.
Fans flocked to follow the band around the streets of São Paulo as they took part in the BBC interview with Cat Deeley. Deeley asked Bono how intense the Brazillian fans were, and Bono said “Ireland is 10… Brazil is 100.”
Well, he’s got that right, because Ireland passionately love to hate U2. Especially after they put their album on everybody’s phone. We’re never going to let that slide, BTW.
They also performed a song from their new album Songs of Experience.
They’re almost as good as weatherman Gerry Murphy’s impression of them.
Fans were really impressed with the show U2 put on and how the BBC put it all together.
