Last night's episode of First Dates Ireland was unbelievably awkward
LAST NIGHT, FIRST Dates Ireland kicked off with an extremely awkward bang.
We were eased into things with Jackie, the woman who owned Dublin’s Marliyn Monroe Mansion that went viral. Seriously. Here’s a quick peek inside:

A few seconds after her introduction, this comes as no surprise. She was glamorous and very OTT.

There’s no denying that Jackie had a very big personality.

The Prince Charming that RTÉ paired her up with was an Enda Kenny lookalike called Joey.

Joey stipulated that he wanted a woman like ‘Scary Spice’. RTÉ did not let him down.
Then we had best friends Leigh and Niamh from Athenry, who both came to the show looking for romance.

People were immediately concerned by the age of the contestants.

Leigh and Niamh headed off to The Gibson for their double date. When a young man named Samuel showed up for a date with Leigh, he made a fairly bad first impression. He called Leigh’s best friend a bitch because she was drinking a daiquiri.

For anyone following RTÉ’s social media, Leigh and Samuel’s date was definitely the most anticipated of the night.
Samuel revealed that his celebrity crush was Leo Varadkar, because ‘he has power and is the Taoiseach.’

Maybe Samuel would have been more suited to the Enda Kenny lookalike, so. Because he certainly wasn’t a good match for Leigh. Leigh watched on in horror as Samuel ordered his food: the chicken supreme, a side of fries, sweet chili sauce on the side, a bowl of lettuce chopped up with no vinegar and a baked potato.
Things didn’t get any better for the pair, and the entire date was written off when Sam told Leigh that he hated his haircut.

However, it got shockingly bad when Samuel went to the bathroom to ring a friend and complain that Leigh looked like the type of guy who would ‘wear glitter at Electric Picnic’.
What the hell does this guy think people go to Electric Picnic for? It’s not a black-tie event. You’re there to have a laugh. Wearing glitter at a festival is almost expected at this stage. Sam definitely would have been more suited to the Enda Kenny lookalike. But seriously, loosen up a bit.
As Sam told his friend on the phone that Leigh “has the worst haircut [he has] ever seen in [his] life”, Leigh called his friend Niamh over to the table to talk how much he hated Samuel and was ready to go home. This definitely makes it into the top ten most awkward dates we’ve seen on First Dates Ireland.
Unsurprisingly, neither of the guys wanted to hang around for dessert.

They couldn’t even look at each other in the lift on the way out.
Meanwhile, Enda Kenny and Scary Spice were evaluating their night out together.
RTÉ RTÉ
They both agreed they had a nice time, but Jackie found that there was a bit of a height issue. Hard luck, Joey.
