STORMZY IS SPENDING his Saturday afternoon worried about Dolly Parton after listening to her 1973 song Jolene.
It’s a very well known fact that Stormzy’s a lovely man with a great sense of empathy, but this takes it to another level. This morning he began to tweet about the pain that Dolly Parton was going through when she wrote ‘Jolene’.
He also began to imagine how attractive Jolene must have been to have the power to devastate poor Dolly like that.

Before wishing that Dolly Parton had more self-confidence. It’s been 45 years since the song was originally released, but it’s nice to see Stormzy is still concerned about how the story ended.

However, Stormzy was delighted to hear that in the end Dolly showed up and confronted Jolene (she did get battered by her wig, apparently), before finally getting her man back.

In 1988, Dolly Parton revealed that Jolene was a true story about a bank worker in Nashville who tried to steal Dolly’s husband while Dolly Parton was out touring.
