EARLIER THIS WEEK, Selena Gomez’s mam spoke frankly about the singer’s decision to work with Woody Allen on the movie ‘A Rainy Day in New York’.
When Gomez was initially asked about working with Woody Allen, many were not satisfied with her explanation that “the universe works in interesting ways.” Unlike Selena, her mother Mandy Teefey did not mince her words.
An Instagram user urged Mandy to convince Selena to write an apology, and Mandy replied:
Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn’t want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click. Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears.
Following Mandy Teefey’s comment, People are reporting that Gomez made a ‘signifcant’ donation to Time’s Up.
Gomez’s co-stars from A Rainy Day in New York, Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Hall, pledged to donate their entire salaries from the movie to Time’s Up and other charities (like RAINN – Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network).
Gomez, who is worth $60 million, has not made a public statement, but a source told People that the singer “made a significant donation anonymously” and that it “far exceeded her salary for the film.”
Did her mam finally get around her? Who knows.
