TODAY, ANT MCPARTLIN appeared in Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court to plead guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol on the 18th of March.

The Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain’s Got Talent presenter was fined £86,000 (€99,500) and received a 20-month driving ban after he was involved in a three-car collision while drink-driving last month.

McPartlin apologised outside of the court:

I just want to say I’m truly sorry for what happened. Higher standards are expected of me, I expect them of myself. I let myself down, I let a lot of people down. For that, I am truly sorry. I’d like to apologise to everybody involved in the crash.

According to BBC, the fine is one of the largest that has ever been handed down in a British court for drink-driving.

There was a large presence of media outside the courthouse, which was apparently pretty distracting for some drivers.

While BBC were reporting live from Wimbledon, they caught a car crash on camera.
