Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and Liam Payne lead tributes to Avicii following his death

The 28-year-old DJ was found dead in Oman.

EARLIER THIS EVENING, it was announced that Swedish DJ Avicii was found dead in Muscat, Oman.

The DJ, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was just 28 years old. His publicist released a statement:

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.

Following the news of Bergling’s death, many celebrities expressed their shock and sadness on social media.

Canadian producer and DJ Deadmau5 offered his condolences on Twitter.

Deadmau5 later added:

I would have enjoyed nothing more than ripping into Avicii well into and beyond our 60s. Taken away from us far too young. I know he's at peace somewhere up there getting the last laugh that I spelled his name right this time.

Popstar Dua Lipa also reacted to the sad news.

Actress Ruby Rose said that her memories with the DJ "will always be so special."

And former One Direction star Liam Payne said that he is "truly devastated".
