IF YOU HAVEN’T heard of Sacha Baron Cohen’s new TV show ‘Who is America?’ yet, it’s basically a political satire mockumentary that features some very strange American citizens.

Sacha portrays various characters on the show, including an Israeli anti-terrorism expert called Erran Morad, who convinces participants on the show that he sincerely believes that three-year-old children should be armed with guns.

In Sunday’s episode, Errand Morad met a Republican state representative from Georgia named Jason Spencer, and began to teach him how to “detect and repel terrorists”.

The show provided some background on Jason – he had previously threatened a Democrat who criticised the abundant supply of Confederate monuments in the United States, by saying she might “go missing” if anything happens to the statues. On top of that, Jason Spencer has also been campaigning for a ban on burkas.

Long story short, Sacha Baron Cohen used Spencer’s ridiculous prejudices to help him make a complete arse of himself.

The politician did a racist impression of a Chinese person while trying to take an up-skirt photograph of someone in a burka, shouted homophobic and racist slurs and pulled down his underwear to bare his arse, for the sake of protecting America.

You need to see it to believe it.

Initially, Jason Spencer had refused to step down from his position and threatened to sue Showtime and Sacha Baron Cohen if they aired the episode. They went ahead and aired the episode, which led to numerous calls for Jason Spencer to quit.

Fellow Georgia Republican David Ralston told CNN that Spencer’s actions and language were “reprehensible” and tried to assure America that “Georgia is better than this”.

The show also sees Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney falling for Sacha Baron Cohen’s disguise, with the latter agreeing to sign a “waterboard kit” on the show.
