Jamie Dornan can't go drinking in Belfast pubs for fear of being put in a headlock

Oh, Belfast.

AS YOU PROBABLY know by now, Jamie Dornan is a native Belfast man.

He was born in the town of Holywood, County Down which has subsequently set him up for a lifetime of interview ledes that read something like “From Holywood to Hollywood…”

Jamie’s proud of his hometown in the suburbs of Belfast, and he’s pretty impressed by what the city has to offer nowadays. He told the Radio Times:

You know, Belfast is brilliant now. It’s got amazing places to eat, the bars have always been brilliant, the people have always been brilliant.

However, despite all of the nice bars and restaurants, Jamie finds it pretty impossible to go out for a few drinks with his pals when he’s at home. He elaborated:

There are a few places I would avoid a little bit now because I’m probably more recognised at home than anywhere else in the world and sometimes it’s, er… People with a few drinks in them can be… well, they’re a bit hands on.

Now, we know what you’re thinking. Jamie’s probably going out and getting harassed by middle-aged women who were obsessed with him in the Fifty Shades series. You’re probably like, “Oh, it’s terrible that Jamie can’t go out for a drink without being felt up, etc.” That’s what you’d assume. But no. It’s just pure affection, rather than sexual harassment that Jamie receives when he’s out in Belfast.

You’re in a headlock before you know it. I mean it’s the most loving headlock you can imagine, but sometimes you’re not up for that when all you want is a quiet drink with your mates.

Fair enough, that still sounds quite annoying. You can only imagine the amount of men who’d have Tinder profile pictures with Jamie Dornan if he went out in Belfast a little bit more often.
