FOR THE LAST week, we’ve all been bombarded by discount codes, boldly coloured flashing advertisements and emails about all of the special offers retailers are promoting this Black Friday.
Many people find the excessive and unnecessary consumerism really disappointing, sad and flat out irritating. For these people, it’s just a bit too American. They’re probably right. Here’s a photo of customers in Texas entering a firearms store, to buy some guns while they’re on sale.

The gun store, which is called Superior Firearms decked their rifles with bows and had a promotion on their Facebook page, where they wrote:
Yeah, that’s a bit weird alright.

Some people are just pleased to get some of their Christmas shopping started at a bargain, and others are pissed off that it couldn’t have waited another week until they’re paid.
As if five week months aren’t hard enough, now they’ve got to see all of the opportunities and savings they’re missing out on because they forgot how long the month was and accidentally spent half of their pay three weeks ago.
There are loads of reasons why people are or aren’t shopping today, but apparently there’s no real increase in sales for retailers at this year, despite the relentless promotion. So we’re wondering how many people are actually consciously engaging in Black Friday shopping.
