To everybody's surprise, Gemma Collins did pretty well on the first episode of Dancing on Ice
ITV ITV
ABOUT A WEEK ago, Dancing on Ice presenter Phillip Schofield publicly said that it’ll be a “miracle” if Gemma Collins even showed up to the first episode of Dancing on Ice 2019.
Despite all of the hard work and training that GC has put in, Phillip said that Gemma’s known to be a bit of a quitter. Last night, the first episode finally aired and viewers were impressed that Gemma had bothered to show up, given that she is quite proud to be a diva. On top of that, all of the tears she cried during training paid off because she stunned many viewers with her performance to Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love.
And yes, she even did the splits. Here’s the full performance (and what the judges had to say afterwards).
Gemma’s dance partner Matt Evers was really impressed by the progress she had made in training, telling judges:
Unfortunately, the hate that Matt spoke of last night didn’t end after Gemma wowed viewers at home. Fans of GC rushed to defend her, tweeting “Here come the fat jokes about Gemma Collins on #dancingonice, so a quick reminder: if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
One Twitter user wrote, “The things people are saying about Gemma Collins are absolutely vile. Piss off with your school playground bullying. No wonder females have so many insecurities. So proud of you @MissGemCollins.”
Indeed, for every negative comment about Gemma, there were five more praising her performance and commitment to the show. All in all, it looks like a good start for Gemma.
