6 seriously last-minute Valentine’s Day gifts that could go down either way

You’re cutting it fine.

WE’VE GOT 24 hours left and if you’re only just getting around to your present shopping now, what are you actually at?

Yes, you’re cutting it seriously fine but all hope is not yet lost - there are still some options available to you.

Look, you’re probably not going to win any romance awards here but sometimes the most practical gifts can be a real winner.

It’s too late for flowers, it’s too late for a sentimental gift, but you just about have enough time to get a few decent presents.

Be warned, if you’re reading this just to see what we’ve suggested then you might find yourself tempted to buy one or two of these for yourself.

You know, in honour of Galentines and all that.

Either way, here are five presents that won’t make it to her Instagram feed but might keep you out of the dog house.

Cinema pass

I wasn’t lying when I said these suggestions weren’t romantic. Although, this is definitely one of those purchases that she will thank you for again and again down the line - a common theme on this list. Different cinema groups do their own version of this - Omniplex  does vouchers while Odeon does monthly passes, for example.

ASOS premier delivery

You’d better be adding something else to the cart to gift her too, to be honest. If you’re going for a last-minute online shop then ASOS is the place to go. Once you’ve made your choice, head to the basket and add that sweet premier delivery. Not only will your package actually get there in time (once you order before 7pm) but you’ll also be gifting 365 days of super fast ASOS delivery and if that doesn’t scream romance, I don’t know what does.

Dine in Dublin voucher

Are you sensing a theme here? You’ve got 24 hours so your best bet is paying it forward and hoping that the future pay-back of a voucher will make up for your lack of preparation. One way to make a dinner voucher seem somewhat thoughtful is to add a condition that it’s only to be used on nights your significant other is not with you. Otherwise you’ll just look cheaper and lazier than you seemingly already are.

Audible subscription

Right, this is actually something that could make for a sweet gift. My audible subscription is something I’ve grown quite attached to and is something I've gifted myself previously. Up the ante by downloading a load of audio books you think she’d enjoy and create your own tailor-made reading (or listening) list for her.

Spa Voucher

Some people despise gifting vouchers - I am not one of those people. I love getting gift cards because who is better at picking presents for me than myself?

You might not have had the time to get your Ps and Qs in order to book a spa weekend but with a Voucher like the one on Spas.ie, you are giving yourself a huge choice of places to go for a weekend while holding onto the flexibility of deciding on a date at a later time.

Subscription box

One way to make a small gift a whole lot better is to sign up for 11 more to be delivered each other from then on.

Yes, subscription boxes are literally the gift that keeps on giving and ones like GlossyBox  never fail to deliver some serious beauty gems once a month.

Look, none of these are the little decoupage ring box described by Sandra Bullock in The Proposal, but they are super practical gifts that will prove their worth over time.

But maybe plan a little earlier next year, yeah?
