Ashley Judd is pressing charges against Twitter trolls over sexual harassment

The situation came to a head when Judd tweeted about a basketball match she was at.

ACTOR ASHLEY JUDD has hit out at Twitter trolls, saying that she will press charges against them over sexually explicit messages sent to her on social media.

When Judd was watching a recent college basketball tournament, she tweeted some opinions about the game being played. The replies she received back were sexually explicit and has led her to call the police.

Speaking on the Today Show on NBC this week, Judd said:

The amount of gender violence I experience is absolutely extraordinary, and a significant part of my day today will be spent filing police reports at home about gender violence that’s directed at me on social media.

Judd then went on to say that she will be pressing charges and that people have to take responsibility for what they write on social media:

Everyone needs to take personal responsibility for what they write, and not allow this misinterpretation and shaming culture on social media to persist. And by the way, I’m pressing charges.

She has received widespread support for taking this stance

Judd has also been re-tweeting messages of support overnight
