Ashton Kutcher wants to be a space cadet
ASHTON KUTCHER WILL become Virgin Galactic’s 500th astronaut launched into space. The news was announced by Richard Branson on his blog.
Virgin’s CEO Branson said he called the actor to congratulate him adding that he was “thrilled” for the actor. The British billionaire added “it’s great to have him on board”.
The 34-year-old actor has not yet commented on his future voyage, but he did retweet Branson’s announcement on his Twitter account.
The Two and a Half Men star is just the latest celebrity to sign up to space travel with Metro.co.uk reporting that Stephen Hawking, Russell Brand, Tom Hanks, Katy Perry, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt all expressed interest in taking a space flight. Branson said Kutcher was joining a group of “true pioneers” that will embark on a “life changing” experience.
The British billionaire added that they were in the final stages of an exhaustive test flight programme stating that safety was paramount to him especially as he will be on the first commercial flight with his own kids. He said that he sometimes has to pinch himself when he thinks about his exciting business.
If you want to join the elite and travel to space it will cost you – according to the Virgin Galactic website tickets cost $200,000. Deposits of $20,000 are accepted.
