Europe's oldest pub is the pride of Athlone - here's a peek inside

It’s bleedin’ ancient.

THE OLDEST PUB in Ireland is an often contested claim.

Sean’s Bar in Athlone, however, has the most convincing. It was founded in 900 AD and is in the Guinness Book of Records as being Europe’s oldest pub.

It was originally known as Luain’s Inn, and it was owned by Boy George briefly in 1987.

A peek inside, and it looks exactly how you’d imagine an old Irish pub to look.

It’s got the fireplace

A serious pint of Guinness

Trad music

Sawdust on the floor

This PROPER cup of tea

Shite on the walls

They do fancy cocktails too

You might even see a celeb

It’s the perfect watering hole

The decoration is superb
